The “People’s Promenade” proposal has been, and continues to be a labour of love for Chalk co-founder Paul Nicholson.
Collaborating with a number of specialists in their field, our objective is to return Madeira Terrace to its former glory as an internationally renowned retail and leisure destination and for Madeira Terrace to become a global showcase for representing the vibrancy and creativity of the entire Brighton and Hove region.
This aspiration will be achieved through delivering:
A dynamic and active retail parade with a sustainable, retail food and drink offer, extending onto the street in good weather to animate and enliven the entire beachfront.
A world class new hotel to deliver footfall and customers to Madeira Terrace year round. Retaining and enhancing the magnificent arch structures, augmented with a sympathetic yet progressive new building to substantially increase commercial performance of the terrace.
Enhancing and increasing the wild greening and perception of green space along the whole of Madeira Terrace and Marine Parade.
Substantially enhancing the quality of the beachfront street scene and improving connectivity and accessibility between Marine Parade and the beach by integrating Volks Railway into a shared surface landscape.
Unlocking the entire Brighton strategic development programme by linking the key development sites along the seafront.
